Immediate Fixed Dental Restoration Within One Week – All-on-4 and All-on-5
What brought the patient to our clinic?
Our 69-year-old female patient had been struggling for years with the discomfort caused by periodontitis. The gum disease eventually compromised the stability of her remaining teeth to such an extent that her upper removable partial denture became increasingly difficult to keep in place. Wearing the denture had become progressively more uncomfortable.
Diagnosis and Proposed Treatment
Due to the advanced stage of periodontitis and the mobility of her teeth, oral surgeon Dr. Péter Jancsecz recommended an All-on-4 and All-on-5 implant-supported solution. This implant technique allows for the full restoration of a dental arch with just 4 or, in this case, 5 implants. The implants are placed at specific angles, making it possible to securely support a full prosthesis on only a few implants—providing a safe and long-lasting result for the patient.
How did the procedure go?
In the upper jaw, 5 implants were placed using the All-on-5 approach; in the lower jaw, 4 implants were placed using the All-on-4 method. All implants were inserted at the time of tooth extraction. Based on the impressions, screw-retained temporary prostheses were fabricated within a week.
When attaching the temporary restorations, the upper left implant was left unloaded due to insufficient primary stability, as it did not reach the required torque threshold. However, the remaining implants achieved adequate stability for immediate loading.
Our patient is now able to enjoy the comfort and aesthetics of a fixed restoration—even during the healing period.
