Aesthetic Dentistry
With the help of aesthetic dental treatments, your teeth can become not only beautiful but also healthy!
Aesthetic Dentistry
Aesthetic dentistry is not only intended to restore the natural appearance and beauty of your teeth, but also to ensure their optimal functionality. Through aesthetic dental treatments, our specialists aim to make sure your teeth are healthy and your smile is as beautiful as ever! With the help of additional cosmetic procedures, we can address your unique needs.
While most people commonly associate it with tartar removal, teeth whitening, orthodontics, and dental prosthetics, the field of aesthetic dentistry includes several further treatment options. Beyond these common treatments, we also offer numerous procedures that improve your quality of life and overall well-being, while making your smile truly radiant!
Areas of application in aesthetic dentistry
- To stop tooth decay, we restore your tooth using aesthetic composite fillings.
- If the cavity is too large, we place an inlay or onlay.
- We replace old amalgam fillings with aesthetic, tooth-coloured composite fillings.
- Through smile design, we help visualise the post-treatment appearance of your front teeth.
- We perform tooth reshaping—adjusting the perceived length and width of your teeth.
- We close wide gaps between your teeth by applying veneers.
- With the help of edge bonding, we restore chipped tooth edges caused by accidents.
- With orthodontic treatment, we align your teeth and establish an ideal bite.
- We remove tartar to eliminate hardened plaque from your teeth.
- We perform teeth whitening to lighten the shade of your teeth.
- We apply tooth jewellery for an extra sparkling smile.
What is the goal of aesthetic dentistry?
As the above examples illustrate, aesthetic dentistry serves two main purposes:
- On one hand, it anatomically corrects the position of your teeth to ensure the jaw functions under proper load, helping to prevent potential temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders in the future.
- On the other hand, it has an aesthetic function—resulting in beautiful teeth, a confident smile, and enhanced self-esteem.
To recommend the most appropriate treatment for achieving the outcome you desire, a preliminary consultation and oral health assessment are necessary. During this visit, we also learn about your individual preferences, review past dental issues and treatments, take X-rays, and discuss personal expectations.
Aesthetic dental treatments
Below, we present the aesthetic dental procedures that help ensure your teeth are not only beautiful but also healthy.
Aesthetic tooth filling
Tooth fillings are used when tooth decay is still at a stage where it can be halted—meaning the spread of bacteria has not yet caused irreversible damage. In such cases, the decayed portion is removed, and the tooth is restored using an aesthetic filling. This seals the tooth surface and rebuilds its structure to an optimal condition, ensuring proper chewing function.
Instead of the previously used amalgam fillings, we now use so-called aesthetic (composite) fillings to provide a shade that matches your natural tooth colour as closely as possible. Composite is a light-curing material reinforced with glass and porcelain particles in a resin matrix. Its properties closely resemble those of natural enamel, making it an ideal solution for tooth restoration.
The results speak for themselves: the bite is perfect, the colour harmonises with your natural tooth shade, and the filling becomes virtually invisible. Discoloured or mismatched fillings can also be replaced with aesthetic composite restorations.
Smile design
Smile design is an excellent method that allows you to preview the expected outcome of your smile after aesthetic treatment. Its greatest advantage lies in the ability to modify the desired result even before the treatment begins.
During smile design, an impression is taken of the area visible when smiling, and photographs are also captured of your current smile. Based on these, a dental technician creates a 3D wax model. In most cases, the dentist can temporarily place this wax model on your teeth without any preparation. This smile mock-up gives a realistic preview of the final result—offering a much more tangible experience than merely visualising it through computer-generated images.
Dental veneers
If you are not satisfied with the shape of your teeth, a thin layer of porcelain—known as a veneer—can be applied to the front surface of your teeth. Veneers provide an optical correction of tooth shape and help close gaps between teeth or cover uneven spacing.
Inlays and onlays
Instead of traditional composite fillings, we may recommend a dental inlay. During the procedure, an impression is taken, and the fabricated inlay is bonded into place. If the cavity is too large for an inlay, an onlay may be used instead. Inlays and onlays can be made from composite resin, ceramic, or precious metals such as gold.
Aesthetic orthodontics
Orthodontic treatment involves aligning your teeth and establishing the ideal bite. A correct bite improves chewing efficiency and reduces the strain on your incisors and canines. Proper alignment also helps maintain the health of the periodontium and can prevent future periodontal issues. Naturally, orthodontics also has a strong aesthetic aspect: a beautiful, symmetrical smile can significantly boost your self-confidence.
At our clinic, we offer a full range of orthodontic solutions with high professional expertise, including fixed and removable appliances, as well as invisible aligner systems.
Gum treatment
Healthy gums are essential before starting any aesthetic or cosmetic dental procedures. Inflamed, sore, or bleeding gums must first be treated to restore their health. In many cases, gum issues can be resolved by professional tartar removal. Gum contouring or plastic surgery may also be needed to correct gum recession and relieve pain in sensitive areas.
Tartar removal
Tartar is calcified dental plaque. Its colour can vary—yellowish, brown, grey, or even white—depending on your lifestyle and eating habits. Tartar is harmful because it provides a breeding ground for pathogens, including bacteria that cause tooth decay. Tartar can also develop below the gum line, which may lead to periodontal disease.
During tartar removal (also called scaling), we use an ultrasonic device to eliminate plaque and tartar from your teeth. This dental procedure plays a major role not only in aesthetics but also in preventing serious oral health problems. Tartar cannot be removed with home remedies—attempting to do so may damage the gums or tooth enamel. Always seek professional treatment.
Professional in-clinic and at-home teeth whitening
The goal of teeth whitening is to give you a brighter, naturally shaded smile you can confidently show to the world. We primarily recommend this treatment when no other structural or functional dental issues are present.
In-clinic teeth whitening procedure can be completed in a single session at our dental clinic, lasting about one and a half to two hours. During this time, your teeth can be whitened by as much as 8 to 11 shades. The greater the degree of discoloration, the more rapid and effective the in-clinic whitening method will be. This is a fast and efficient procedure that may cause temporary tooth sensitivity. However, afterwards, the enamel regains its original hardness, and your teeth become easier to clean. In-clinic whitening is not more harmful to the teeth than at-home methods when performed professionally.
Tooth jewels
A tooth jewel is a small decorative stone that can add extra sparkle to an already healthy smile. Tooth jewels can only be applied to perfectly healthy and well-maintained teeth. Often, teeth whitening and tartar removal are performed before attaching the jewel to ensure the best aesthetic result.
During the application, we use a technique that protects the enamel from any damage. This method employs the same adhesive system used in placing aesthetic fillings. If you decide you no longer want the tooth jewel, it can be completely and safely removed from the tooth surface without any residue.
